Stephen Colbert Meets The Press (Videos)

A couple of hours ago, Stephen Colbert was interviewed by Tim Russert on “Meet The Press“. This clip seems to give more of a context to Colbert’s recent announcement regarding his entering into the 2008 Presidential race (Video). He is obviously in character for this interview, but in a different way. All politics aside, this is quite impressive strictly from an acting standpoint. I can’t tell if Tim Russert takes him way too seriously or if he just realizes how ridiculous he looks trying to candidate bash a satirical character.

In any event, it seems that the point of Colbert’s run for presidency is to expose the absurdity of the process rather than to become President. In his interview with Russert, Colbert says,

“I don’t want to be President. I want to run for president, there’s a difference.”

Vodpod videos no longer available.

P.S. Here is a post-interview clip. Stephen Colbert and Tim Russert are both out of character.
